I just got diagnosed with Bronchitis this morning after being sick for more than a month. I believe it started with a flu my grandkids had, one of them developed pneumonia. I had the sore throat, sinus drain down my throat. Really bad cough came later with yellowish phlegm or mucus from my nose trying to clear it and from mouth from cough especially in the mornings. Became a habit when going to the bathroom in the morning to blow my nose and get the coughing down by trying to cough it all out first thing.
It actually mellowed a bit but was tired. I did Nyquil at first, 2 bottles, throat drops and cough drops, cold eez, Power C gummies, and generic mucus meds. Switched up with 2 kinds of allergy meds when thought when mellowed might just be an allergy to Mtn Cedar I've been getting bout this time of yr since moved to tx.
About a week and a half ago I got it back full blown and worse. Is when I started the mucus medicine, I felt some drainage, and then, the cough. Second hand smoke set me off, too much physical activity, and once I started to cough, would be on a roll like a whole minute. and every 10 mins. It was dry, and really deep, and hurt my chest and then started getting sharp pains in my head from the force of the coughs and most likely blood to my head. would bring tears to my eyes because of the pain behind them. I also would wear a pad because would the force would leak urine even after just going to the bathroom. I could hear the bubbles in my chest when just relaxing.
Finally gave in, went to an urgent care facility, and they said bronchitis... I got a steriod shot there, and 2 prescriptions, one for an antibiotic z-pack and the other cough syrup with codeine to help me rest.
The shot worked like within an hr. Continuous coughing went to not coughing for an hr at a time, but did have some pretty bad fits when started. When did cough tho, I started getting more mucus coming up and feel it was a good thing to get it outta there. Now my nose is lightly stuffed and runs, and blowing my nose alot again but clear, not colored. I DO get coughing fits right now, but started the antibiotics, got the shot and only took 1 dose cough syrup cuz of codeine.
My main concern is the talk of contagion... :( I feel its probly true because I think got it from my grandbabies in first place. Now I've been with them the last few days and hope they aren't infected, plus, I work at a school with a lot more... we are understaffed so I worked even tho sick. :( Just in case I am going to take more precautions with everybody and am going to take all the meds as directed for the duration.
I just posted to let ppl know my symtoms and to let ppl know they might have it. I may have also had something like this with the cough beginning of last yr now that recognize it.

Just read a web site by a Dr. That stated bronchitis is contagious when it is viral or bacterial but not while caused by allergens as dust, smoke, etc.

"Is Bronchitis Contagious?

Bronchitis describes a group of symptoms (including airway inflammation, over-production of phlegm, cough), which can have various causes. If the cause of the bronchitis is viral or bacterial, it can be contagious. If the cause of the bronchitis is due to smoking, air pollution, or other inhaled irritants, it is not contagious."

Dry leaf Oregano ,kills virus due to mould, mildew parasite and bacteria. make it into a tea. swish it around in your mouth, gargle and swallow slowly. If you are allergic to oregano, do not take it. and if you are pregnant or trying to become so then oregano is not for you as the only side effect is that if you take too much it will bring on your menses .
Also Vitamin C. in the form of rose hips counter acts mould. i open a cap and empty the rose hip powder into a pot of boiling pasta while cooking it. it will kill any mould, also honey, you can empty a cap of rose hip powder and stir it into the honey to kill possible mould. Take a cap or two with water, it will kill mould in your body...
CHECK IT ALL OUT ON GOOGLE FIRST OF COURSE

I have battled bronchitis all my life, off and on, and have it now. It started with a sore throat, and lots of mucus, tiredness. This time I had to go to the ER because I just could not breathe. I have gone to church and worked and never given this to anyone, and my family was close to me at all times. I wonder will it always come back; this time it had been two years since I've had it. And I've been eating lots of sweets, since it's the holidays, and does that have an effect on bronchitis?

I am also one with allergies, I am allergic to dust, ragweed, alternaria mold, timothy, bermuda, and johnson grass. I work in an office which is just a box no matter how big it is, it's still a box. A box contains lots of dust, the windows are closed most of the time, and many flavors of mold such as:Aspergillus,Cladosporium,Penicillium,Alternaria, and Stachybotrys atra (Black Mold). Inform your employer or housing authority about the problem first and then if nothing gets done.Collect a sample and send it to your state health department, do something for your health.
